Marseille Provence 2013 !

This is the logo which opens doors  to lots of events and gives the city funds to renew nearlly all the museums in the city  and have a smashing new one built. I will not be here when it opens but I will catch up in the summer!

What has spoken to me since childhood is the strong link Marseilles has with Greece and the 'mare nostrum'. Of course it is the  central theme of the artistic offers. I really enjoyed the exhibition  'le trésor des Marseillais' the Ancient Greeks  settled around the sheltered Lacydon and then to be faithful to their origins and their gods paid tribute to them at Delphi, so they could ask for protection and wealth for their trading on the seas. The 3D display to recreate the Temple to Athena in Delphi was fascinating, the splendid setting and  the sounds and discreet music  made it like a true journey to this unforgettable site I visited last April with my family.
