'D'amor sull'ali rosee' Act II, Verdi -Il Trovatore.

This is Bel Canto late warhorse written by Verdi  like Bellini's 'Casta diva', or Donizetti's 'Regnava nel solenzio': Verdi 's aria has trills and amazing arpeggios where the voice floats up and down throughout.
Tonight I wanted to follow all these and see how all that make sense and enlight emotion.
It is a difficult soprano aria which is demanding and moving.
I have seen several live Trovatore in my life. Lately, with the Bastille ones, I had the opportunty to follow the radio broadcast and tonight the televised one on Mezzo HD: I was not quite happy with what I got. So I ended on youtube, the score and the voice.
Maria Callas versus Anja Harteros: they both share accuracy and know how to trill and float the voice They have in common some ethereal beauty in sustained high notes which I cannot enjoy with other singers, past and present.
I never had the chance to see Maria Callas. But since I  retired I have tried to be where Anja Harteros sings. Unfortunately, I could not be in Munich for her Leonora. (I saw the televised one).
Normally I should  be able to catch her Amelia at the BSO's Un ballo in maschera new production next month.
 Maria Callas:

Anja Harteros:

(Many thanks to the two Youtube Uploaders for these very fine arias, most appreciated the Callas one with score)
