Hamlet...getting ready, on saturday the 29th.

This is nearly the end of the season in Marseilles opera house.
For once I missed two important dates in Paris (Pleyel Handel recital and TCE La Calisto). Now I am feeling better, this sluggish month of May is starting to take it seriously, stopping to indulge in a March cold and rainy behaviour.
Spring flowers are always faithful to take my mind away from worries and they are in full bloom whatever happened in the long winter months.

This rhododendron shrub always suprises me with its sudden lavish opulence, I have the feeling it is rewarding me in an excessive manner compared to my eight years of regular attendance without any particular zeal.
So this is it: last evening of the season with Hamlet,(Ambroise Thomas), on Sat 29th at my favourite opera house, with two singers I have followed without having to travel: Patrizia Ciofi and Marie-Ange Todorovitch.
I discovered Patrizia Ciofi live in Orange, a stunning Lucia De Lammermoor so moving and heavenly singing. She looked like a lost white butterfly fluttering round the orchestra pit before burning its fragile wings, what with the intense Rolando Villazon's acting and singing, made that Orange night brilliant and memorable.

When my old Mac collapsed I lost all my photos and luckily I managed to get hold of some saved by my friend Nicole when she made the very artistic cover of our home made DVD with the live TV broadcast, it tasted so much sweeter and nicer than a commercial one! I hope I will manage to meet Patrizia Ciofi at the stage door and I will try to ask her to sign that treasure . Will I manage to thank also Marie Ange Todorovitch ?(Gertrude); I am really fond of her mezzo voice in all her roles. She is often on our opera stage. Some of her appearances since last season: Cendrillon (Massenet), Mireille (Bizet), Julius Caesar (Handel) and to end the season, Hamlet, not a very popular opera but a very romantic one : an evening to look forward....
Mado Robin in the Mad scene, the best in this role and the school of singing my Mum followed. Clear and amazing tops... Thank you so much Coloraturafan!
