But I will not be there, having rejoiced too much in real sunshine of an early spell of summer last week in Nice. Back here now, I've got the blues and the flu. It is such a blow but that was expected when I think of it. I am not that young to hop on planes, trains and buses like I do without catching some nasty stuff! The irony of it all is that it did not happen during winter when the epidemic campaign was raging (I did not take any notice of it and ignored the vaccination, I believe in alternative medicine so far).
So I will rely on the eyes and ears of my faithful friends in Paris who will keep in touch with me about these two performances I will not attend.
I miss the performance of Calisto more. I was thrilled to discover this young soprano in this Venetian opera I ignore. Those two performances were my last treat in Paris, I was finishing my Paris season with baroque music, first Rolando Villazon who no doubt would revisit Handel like he did Monteverdi ( I was at Saint-Denis), then Christophe Rousset who is a baroque specialist in charge of this Calisto. Sophie Karthaüser is Calisto, she is a dedicated Mozart singer and baroque singer. My last hope is to actually see her this summer at the Aix festival. She was already in the 09 Aix festival. Here are some official snapshots.
As for Rolando Villazon I have another last date in June in Berlin with his Lenski for the second time. Will I make it then ?
Alhough I am not in a mood for celebrating anything, Sophie Karthaüser is giving me comfort I need today with her sweet song of May

Bright sunshine from 'la Tour Bellanda'this is the view (I think) that inspired Hector Berlioz when he wrote King Lear ouverture.
And a week later the weather broke up all of a sudden after a surprising sunny and hot week, rough sea and high waves flooded the Promenade des Anglais and many more places down the coast...It is raining quite heavily here in the Luberon.
My Lady Banks rose climber is weeping, a bit like me really!
