Some thirty years after my first visit to Musée Rodin, I revisited this amazing place and gardens. I had the feeling marble was as light as feathers and that flesh and bodies were having heavenly embraces sometimes, feet were not even touching the ground. And the marble was so white! It was a complete change with my old memories of a rather over crowded sort of glass warehouse with too many greyish statues.
It was raining on the Thinker and on the roses.
I used to love going to see the bronze version of The Kiss at the museum in Cardiff but have never seen those hands. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDear Eyes, I stayed some time in Swansea in my youth and went to Cardiff for several purposes (even opera, a memorable Carmen!) but did not know about the Museum. Also participated to the Harvest Festival there with my school (they were singing! ) I would have liked to see the Kiss too. This special hand-display is called La Cathédrale. It is simply a wonder and now it is beautifully laid out. (easier to gaze at).
ReplyDeleteAnd to my awful feeling of time I must confess it is some fifty years ago when I first visited this place and it was not at all so well displayed ...
