New Calendar:2017...

When it is hard to sleep at night, it is even more difficult to be alive in day light!
That explains a lot of my sluggishness and knack to postposne even the New Year greetings : Perhaps I will catch up today but it is not easy to believe in a brighter future all around  us these days.
I would rather share a blog page of a fantastic opera blog from Barcelona ( I often read sometimes in Catalan, when the words remind me of our Provençao):
 IN FERNEM LAND
This opera huge fan is sharing a game for New Year: so let's play and enjoy this warhorse from Werther:
Pourquoi me réveiller?
Indeed, why, just now ?
It has been such a great pleasure to recognise some  tenors, Roberto Alagna jean -François Borras, Rolando Villazon, perhaps Placido Domingo (at the very end? ) Luciano the great (I think...)
The first Russian tenor on the list made me shiver and almost cry....So I voted:  3, 6, 12 and 14
I think I know who 3 and 4 are but I ignore who the last ones are! And my favourite by far it 12.
I felt very ignorant most of the time at this blind test but enjoyed it tremendously! of course I recognise 11 who is not my cup of tea at all in this role, and who sounds more baritone than tenor. My heart goes to 12, such an angel voice and who must be a marvellous Lensky. I stopped myself reading the notes to keep the list as much secreet as possible. It has been fun to spot the French singers, or the Italian or Spanish ones too. But my great fun came with this Russian tenor.
It reminded me I enjoyed so much the Russian streaming of Werther from Moscow with Charlotte-
Karine Deshayes. I posted a screenshot from Nov the 12th, (here's another one) and I liked the tenor too but not quite as moving and beautiful as Number 12. (I discovered who he is, with the help of youtube... but will not give my answer because this game is good let's play it until the results!)
My only wish for us all wherever we are is peace of mind and plenty of free time to rejoice in music as much as possible and also to be able to share live streaming of operas and concerts all over the planet... I do not forget my blogfriends from Canada, Italy, Britain and USA and the ones I read from Spain and Germany too, have a good start of this new calendar!
A taste from Moscow with the pryanik  and the last roses from Provence, but this week low temperatures are coming, perhaps snow?

  1. Thank you very much for your words and for sharing my proposal to fourteen versions to "pourquoi me reveiller?"

  2. How did you find the way to my blog, I wonder, and thank you so much for reading me here. I often read you because I did attend operas at the Liceù and loved it a lot, as well as your city!
You did a fair job in this blind test about' Pourquoi me réveiller?'. May be at the very end you will tell us all about the scores and perhaps the singers? (mais on peut sans doute communiquer en français?) Merci pour ce message ici !
