Madame la Misère: Léo Ferré.

So true...

When I watched  J-L Mélanchon 's  meeting and listened carefully to his speech, I thought  he is the last 'tribun' in style and words Léo's poems and music came to my mind .... Getting ready for Revolution,   Evolution?
Léo Ferré, J-L Mélanchon, Umberto Giordano are on the same musical and human range .
When I watched the livestream from BSO later in the evening that same Saturday 18th,  I felt the same atmosphere during act I, so well depicted by Philipp Stölzl:  the downstairs 'slaves'  are rejoicing at  Andrea Chenier's radical expression of 'love' 'upstairs,  when he is invited by the scornful Aristocrats.
Indignation against human Misery ? This is an eternal score.
Therefore I am getting ready for two 'Andrea Chenier,' the unique concert version at the TCE on Sunday the 26th, then at the BSO on the 30th, a quick trip to Munich to follow my discrete diva, Anja Harteros in a new role, madeleine de Coigny,  with her smashing friend singer, Jonas Kaufmann, but not only as I was really enthusiastic during the streaming with the entire cast, setting (so true to the historical details of this period) orchestra and conductor! This time the reading of Giordano's scores and libretto does not sound only like a historical description with a bit of romance: it sounds like the human drama it once was, deeply moving and questioning even more these days...

Screenshots from TV last Saturday night... I loved this opera for the first time with this chef, cast and amazing setting.
Applause for this tremendous work of art that night: Luca Salsi-Gérard,  Madeleine de Coigny-Anja Harteros, André Chenier-Jonas Kaufmann.
