Landmark -II-The lied and art song texts page.

I am most grateful to Emily Ezust for her site dedicated to translations of the lied.
I am a lied listener, and enjoy that musical expression more and more as I learn about it a little bit more, depending on the singer I listen to and his choice of composer and poet.
Whenever I go to a recital I try to know the poems in the language they were written and then through an English translation. Then I work it out in French for myself.( It is not always necessary).
I refer to this useful site very often, having the music in my Itunes library, it is easy to click on this site and follow the text while listening to the song; for me it is sheer joy!
At the moment I am listening to Simon Keenlyside,I am getting ready for his Garnier recital!
Song 3 (J.Brahms-K.Candidus).
Lechengesang.
Lark's song
translation from the CD booklet.
(German to English, and as often, no French).
Ethereal distant voices,
Heavenly greetings of the larks,
How sweetly you stir
My breast,you delightful voices!
Gently I close my eyes,
And memories arise
In soft twilights,
Pervaded by springtme Sighs.

My try,
Le chant de l'alouette.

Voix distantes venues des cieux,
Salutations célestes des alouettes,
Que vos voix merveilleuses
Touchent doucement mon coeur!
Je ferme les yeux calmement,
Et les souvenirs de doux crépuscules affluent,
Envahis par des soupirs printaniers.
