Landmark- III- Rolando, Hélène and Schumann!(18.IV.2010)

This is the complete choice of melodies.
I am so pleased to see Dichterliebe are going to be interpreted by both singer and pianist!
Chanson triste is one of my favourite French melodies.
Here is one very fine rendition by an amazing tenor who is more than a hundred years old: Hugues Cuenod and Rose Dobos on the piano.

Mon amour, quand tu berceras
Mon triste coeur et mes pensées
Dans le calme aimant de tes bras.

Tu prendras ma tête malade,
Oh! quelquefois, sur tes genoux,
Et lui diras une ballade
Qui semblera parler de nous;

I am really counting the days now!
I have heard Rolandon sing Massenet 'ouvre tes yeux bleus'(there is one of my You tube Video with my live audio), then there is the Fauré's one 'Après un rêve' For Dichterliebe, there are private records of the Liceù concert and of the German ones when Daniel Barenboïm accompanied him. Perhaps he will record them for DG after this recital. He has been working on these scores for quite a while now. He must have scrutenized the poems and the music so often during his quiet months. He will come out with unknown feelings through his soul and heart and Hélène with her non conventional approach of life will add in her piano playing more powerful effects.
She is also a poetic character and a strange beauty. Her passion for wolves is fascinating .
I cannot help thinking she has been educated in a place I know fairly well and that she must keep in her heart. Now she is touring the world with her fingers, piano, music and soul.

Rolando is as well with his voice, singing and acting. They seem to be nomads and they create more happiness for others where ever they roam. I am keeping my fingers crossed for both of them !
